Maple Leaf Orthopedics and Spine is pleased to have Dr. Thomas Hoffeld as a member of its staff. Dr. Thomas Hoffeld is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a founding member of the Broward Institute of Orthopedic Surgeons (BIOS).
Dr. Thomas Hoffeld is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who grew up in Florida but has called southern Colorado his home for the last 18 years. He lives on a small ranch in Rye, Colorado with his wife, Cathy, along with their two dogs, a few horses, and a variety of cats and chickens. Though his father was a physician, Dr. Hoffeld did not initially consider a medical career. However, his career aspirations changed while attending a Sports Training Course while student-managing the football team in high school.
Dr. Hoffeld graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine where he also completed a surgical internship. Dr. Hoffeld remained at the University of Miami, where he completed his Orthopedic Residency. Before opening his first Orthopedic practice, he proudly served in the US Navy, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Prior to joining Maple Leaf Spine and Orthopedics, Dr. Hoffeld enjoyed a long career in a full-time Orthopedic surgery practice in South Florida. While practicing in South Florida, Dr. Hoffeld held hospital and department chairman positions at his office and hospital-based practice for over 25 years. Dr. Hoffeld has held positions including Chief of Orthopedics Memorial Hospital Hollywood, Florida, Chief of Staff Pembroke Pines Hospital, Florida, Chief of Staff Spanish Peaks Hospital, Colorado, and Chief of Surgery Spanish Peaks Hospital, Colorado. During that time, he performed a full gamut of orthopedic surgical procedures, including total joint replacements, spine surgery, and trauma and fracture repair.
Currently, Dr. Hoffeld has a part-time, office-based practice where he sees various orthopedic issues and provides consultative services to the other surgeons at Maple Leaf Spine and Orthopedics.
In his semi-retirement years, Dr. Hoffeld has had the opportunity to develop various outside interests. These interests include ranching (mostly fixing everything that breaks), basic woodworking, cooking, and gardening.
